21 Century Garden Art – The Mobile Garden of Atelier Alias
Synopses
The Leipzig-based Atelier Alias has introduced a surprising element intomodern garden art: mobility. Katja Heinecke, Bertram Weissharr and Reinhard Krehl send their gardens on trips, take "research walks" and are responsible for producing the world's first "Garden-Swap-Market." Melding poetry, garden designs and a "happening" atmosphere, the team creates lasting contributions to city and landscape planning. Central to the team's designs is the unending effort to "play at" creating gardens in the least likely of places. The documentary accompanies the garden artists of Atelier Alias as they create "temporary" gardens in a number of German cities and as they plan future, innovative, and, yes, surprising garden projects.
