Missing in Action – How governments betrayed their soldiers
Synopses
The documentary reveals how for decades the USA has suppressed the truth regarding the fate of American POWs held in communist detention. Contemporary witnesses are warned against offering testimony before Congressional investigatory committees. The US is the most blatant example of the repression of "inconvenient truths," the publication of which might diminish the myths of national grandeur and moral perfection. "No soldier will be left behind" is a keystone of American policy. And, because the conflicts which elevated America to super-power status were always fought by America's sons on foreign soil, the return of "every last soldier, at any price" became a fundamental American myth.
