21 Century Garden Art – The Private Jungles of Patrick Blanc
Synopses
If the well-known French tropical botanist, Patrick Blanc, had his wish, cities throughout Europe would be filled with luxuriously blooming vertical gardens. In and around Paris, Blanc has already begun to realize his vision of "controlled jungles." With his patented system of "Murs Végétaux" (- evergreen plant walls) - Blanc has transformed dreary apartment building facades and backyard courts into over-sized murals created from hundreds of living plants. Recently Patrick Blanc's vertical gardens have reached impressive dimensions - up to many hundred square meters, as for example in the inner-courtyard of the fashionable Hotel Persching Hall in midtown Paris. Hidden behind the beautiful floral facades of his vertical gardens is a simple, but very clever technology.
